My Personal And Professional Development Education Essay
My Personal And Professional Development Education Essay In this article I will basically assess my own and expert advancement with connection to QTS measures for study hall the executives. Utilizing ebb and flow speculations and examination I will recognize issues and set forward potential answers for improve my future practice. This will be accomplished through intelligent practice, in which I will keep a diary of my movement and recognize key zones for improvement. Utilizing this record of my creating class the board, I will fundamentally assess my own movement. In the event that acting is the craft of halting individuals hacking, instructing is the specialty of halting them tossing things around (McManus 1995) During my first position in school, I had the option to explore different avenues regarding an assortment of showing strategies for all parts of educating. Because of the kind of school I was put at, the key factor I needed to address was homeroom the executives. The school had broad issues with student conduct, along these lines before any important learning could occur homeroom the executives must be managed. Before the finish of the arrangement my coach gave me some incredibly positive remarks about my advancement around there and prompted that I should keep on concentrating on study hall the executives to accomplish extraordinary exercise perceptions later on. She clarified that once I no longer needed to consider discipline in the homeroom and it turned out to be increasingly common, I would then have the option to invest more energy in different parts of educating. The significance of conduct the board to every single hopeful educator has been featured by numerous scholars thro ughout the years, powerful study hall the executives is fundamental to viable instructing (Capel et al, 2005). In light of this center I started my second arrangement with a solid inspiration to build up my administration methods utilizing all the assets accessible. This was a perfect territory of advancement for me to use in my learning diary, where I could record my issues, evaluate new strategies and fundamentally assess my movement. This would then give me an abundance of solid proof to demonstrate I had satisfied the suitable guidelines required to accomplish Qualified Teaching Status (QTS). These guidelines, set by the administration, spread the scope of aptitudes an instructor must have so as to show palatable exercises. A few of these spread study hall the executives and through this task I will have the option to asses how effectively I have accomplished these gauges. Before I can start to assess my training I first need to set an away from of study hall the board and what it will envelop. An unmistakable and direct definition is given by Wragg (1993) Class the board is teachers main thing to guarantee that kids participate in the undertaking close by, whatever that might be'. Albeit shortsighted this is basically what all educators must address each exercise. Before any important instructing can happen, understudies conduct in the study hall must be worthy for all students to have the option to learn. Nonetheless, this basic idea at that point opens up a wide assortment of factors which influence an understudies conduct in exercises. It is these parts of conduct the board which I will concentrate on in my intelligent practice. When examining study hall conduct educators of frequently talk about poor or awful conduct appeared by understudies yet this can differ contingent upon the instructors perspective. Awful conduct is thusly characterized by the degree of disturbance caused to a childs learning. Lawrence (1984) is cited, à ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã¢ ¦disruption added up to anything which kept the educator from accomplishing beneficial outcomes with the understudies. Depicting problematic conduct as, a general refusal to be educated, accomplishing no work or refusal to comply'. Comprehending what is awful conduct at that point permits the educators set up procedures to envision and decrease its event. All understudy educators wanting to build up their group the board must acknowledge the duty they have for all students conduct. Numerous instructors are naturally hesitant to recognize that the explanation behind students rowdiness might be found as regularly in their educating as in the understudies powerlessness or inability to learn (Charlton David, 1989). Along these lines instructors must comprehend that it isn't exclusively the kid or their experience that is to be faulted for making trouble. The instructors activities and choices are perhaps the most significant factor affecting an understudies conduct in their group. Having this as a main priority, a learner instructor should assume a more prominent liability of their administration strategies and spotlight on upgrades. Viable study hall the executives depends on these fundamental standards; communicating authority, passing on eagerness, proactivity and readiness. (Bryson 1998). These four standards are the essential structure for setting up study hall the board on which instructors can manufacture their training. Nonetheless, building up these aptitudes, particularly as an understudy educator, are famously muddled as they are frequently difficult to rehearse. Rundown of characteristics for those working with problematic youngsters: instructors must be steady, empathetic, delicate, insightful, flexible, develop and truly fit. (Houghughi 1978) Behavior the executives depends intensely on an instructors character, quirks, acting capacity and particulary certainty. Training aptitudes are hard to get a buy on the grounds that they are dynamic rather then robotic in character (Eisner 1982). However there are numerous scholars who have created strategies which can upgrade and improve these abilities. I wi ll try a large number of these speculations during my situation and assess them in my intelligent log. I will record the achievement or disappointment of these systems and recommend manners by which they have empowered me to fulfill any QTS guidelines. So as to accomplish this I should initially set up a viable method to record and assess my study hall the board utilizing an intelligent practice model. In spite of the fact that we as a whole gain for a fact, increasingly more experience doesn't ensure increasingly learning. We ought not depend exclusively on our common procedure of considering experience, however effectively look for approaches to guarantee that reflection itself become a propensity. (Beaty 1997). In this manner, to guarantee movement is ideal an organized and centered technique for reflection must be done by students. During my time in arrangement B I will keep a diary portraying my advancement in improving study hall the board during a large portion of a term. This will concentrate on one single year 8 class, who I have seen as having numerous conduct issues. By recording the issues I confronted and the fruitful and ineffective administration procedures I utilized, I will have a nitty gritty record of my instructing improvement. I will utilize this diary as a key source while relating study hall the executives speculations to genuine practice. This intelligent method is basic for learner educators and is the key focal point of this task. Dewey (1933) is recognized as a significant instigator in the twentieth century of the idea of reflection, drawing on the thoughts of numerous old style scholars, for example, Plato, Aristotle, Confucius and Buddha (Houston, 1988). From that point forward a few models of reflection have been introduced over the most recent thirty years. Gibbs (1988), John (2000), Atkins Murphy (1994) and Kolb (1984) have all delivered varying models which offer various techniques for reflection. David Kolb (1984) accepted that learning happens in a cycle wherein students take part in and afterward watch and think about encounters. The student would then be able to incorporate reflections into their own hypothesis, permitting them to gauge how to respond later on. This fundamental framework is a decent structure on which to base my diary however a progressively definite and explicit model for reflection would be of more prominent use. Gibbss (1988) intelligent cycle created Kolbs speculations however adjusted them into a more easy to understand model (reference section 1). Gibbs model proposes the student depicts what occurs, clarifies their sentiments at that point and afterward assesses the positives and negatives of the experience. From this data the professional would then be able to dissect the circumstance and make decisions about what should be changed and what ought to remain. This permits the student to set activity intends to propose what should be possible in a comparative circumstance later on. This is an entirely available technique for reflection which offers the students chance to think about the key parts of their learning and afterward utilize this data to set reasonable targets. Christopher Johns (2000) is increasingly disparaging of Gibbss cycle citing This may be valuable for the amateur intelligent professional yet recall, inside an intelligent point of view such structures are simply gadgets to assist you with reflecting rather at that point force a solution of what reflection is. In spite of the fact that I concur with Johns contention I trust I am as yet a beginner intelligent professional thus feel great receiving Gibbs model. Johns (1994) model for organized reflection (MSR) can be utilized as a guide for examination or reflection on an encounter and would be helpful for progressively complex dynamic and investigation. MSR underpins the requirement for the student to work with a boss all through their learning experience. He alludes to this as guided reflection, and suggests that understudies utilize an organized journal. Platzer et al (1997) recognize this as a quality of the model, as it is one of only a handful not many models of reflection that alludes to the improvement of director based reflections. Rolfe et al (2001) censures the MSR, as it just reacts to a circumstance, which has been settled. It doesn't give enough adaptability for the professional to develop their training as the circumstance changes. Anyway I will fuse the requirement for a student to work with a boss, for example, my subject mentor, into my own intelligent practice as it gives me an accomplished point of view on my turn of eve nts (see LDJ). I will prevalently utilize Gibbss intelligent cycle while assessing my movement in homeroom the executives yet additionally fuse Christopher Johns hypothesis of chief upheld re

A Short Overview Of Hurricanes Essay Example For Students
A Short Overview Of Hurricanes Essay Tropical storms are ground-breaking environmental vortices that are middle of the road in size. Storms are exceptional and incredible climate frameworks. The word tropical storm originates from a Caribbean word meaning huge breeze. Perspectives on storms can be seen from a satellite situated a great many miles over the earth. Storms start as tropical unsettling influences over warm seas with exchange winds. The tropical turbances strengthen into tropical dejections, and in the end into a typhoon. They just begin in the tropical exchange winds in light of the fact that the sea temperatures are very warm there. Controlled from the warmth that the ocean emits, they are directed by the east exchange winds and the calm west ones, just as by their own fierce vitality. Around their center, twists develop with an enormous measure of speed making savage oceans. As they push toward the shore, they move the sea internal, while bringing forth tornadoes and delivering heavy rains and floods. For a tropical storm to shape, the sea temperature must be hotter than twenty-six degrees Celsius, or eighty degrees Fahrenheit. Additionally, the air close to the seas surface must be loaded up with dampness. The seawater that is warmed by the warmth from the sun vanishes to shape huge tempest mists. As the warm air rises, the cooler air replaces it in this way making a breeze. The pivot of the earth twists the breeze internal making it turn and winding upward with a lot of power. Around the Equator, the turn is the quickest. There, it very well may be quicker than 600 miles for each hour. You can't see a tropical storm at the same time, except if youre taking a gander at it from above or are taking a gander at an image taken by a satellite, since it is excessively huge. The spinning mass, molded like a doughnut, can be 200 to 600 miles wide and forty thousand to fifty thousand feet high. Towns can be torn from the land and little nations completely crushed by the furious breezes. The eye divider is a ring of wild tempests encompassing the focal point of a tropical storm. As the air surges toward the middle, it gets thick with water fume. The fume quickly rises and consolidates, framing transcending rainstorms. The downpour fall is heaviest here. Inside the eye divider, the breezes are the most grounded. They move around so quick that it is hard to hear, see, and even relax. While over the sea, these breezes can make waves that are taller than three story structures. Be that as it may, while they are over land, they can destroy homes, remove trees, and cause a colossal measure of annihilation. The eye of a typhoon is the low-pressure district in the inside. The size of the eye relies upon the quality of the encompassing breezes. More grounded breezes wrap themselves all the more firmly around the eye with the goal that it decreases. The normal eye of a typhoon is around twenty miles wide with an oval shape in spite of the fact that they can be round, as well. Despite the fact that the eye of a storm is quiet and radiant, it very well may be risky. Individuals are frequently tricked into believing that the tropical storm has passed. They come out of their homes or protects and the furious breezes, mass of mists, and deluge starts once more. The opposite side of the tempest shows up and it is as brutal as it was previously. At the point when a tropical unsettling influence shows up in the Atlantic Ocean, the Caribbean Sea, or the Gulf of Mexico, the researchers at the National Hurricane Center are put on alert. Utilizing climate satellites, they ca n locate the specific area of the unsettling influence. Likewise, climate inflatables furnished with estimating instruments are propelled twice every day around the globe to help recognize spot changes in temperature and water fume in the environment. At the point when an aggravation develops and frames a hurricane, meteorologists give it a name taken from a rundown of twenty-one normal male and female names. They go down the rundown sequentially, rotating with male and female names. An alternate rundown is utilized every year for a long time so, all things considered they are rehashed. When a tempest causes extreme harm, its name is expelled from the rundown and is not, at this point being used. Tropical storm Andrew in 1992 is a case of a typhoon name that is not, at this point being used, as is Hugo in 1989 and Gilbert in 1988. When the tempest is named, tropical storm trackers do the risky activity of following it. .u5eef95f2ce330270c49eade446a99706 , .u5eef95f2ce330270c49eade446a99706 .postImageUrl , .u5eef95f2ce330270c49eade446a99706 .focused content region { min-stature: 80px; position: relative; } .u5eef95f2ce330270c49eade446a99706 , .u5eef95f2ce330270c49eade446a99706:hover , .u5eef95f2ce330270c49eade446a99706:visited , .u5eef95f2ce330270c49eade446a99706:active { border:0!important; } .u5eef95f2ce330270c49eade446a99706 .clearfix:after { content: ; show: table; clear: both; } .u5eef95f2ce330270c49eade446a99706 { show: square; change: foundation shading 250ms; webkit-progress: foundation shading 250ms; width: 100%; obscurity: 1; progress: murkiness 250ms; webkit-change: mistiness 250ms; foundation shading: #95A5A6; } .u5eef95f2ce330270c49eade446a99706:active , .u5eef95f2ce330270c49eade446a99706:hover { darkness: 1; progress: haziness 250ms; webkit-change: mistiness 250ms; foundation shading: #2C3E50; } .u5eef95f2ce330270c49eade446a99706 .focused content region { width: 100%; position: relativ e; } .u5eef95f2ce330270c49eade446a99706 .ctaText { outskirt base: 0 strong #fff; shading: #2980B9; text dimension: 16px; textual style weight: striking; edge: 0; cushioning: 0; content adornment: underline; } .u5eef95f2ce330270c49eade446a99706 .postTitle { shading: #FFFFFF; text dimension: 16px; textual style weight: 600; edge: 0; cushioning: 0; width: 100%; } .u5eef95f2ce330270c49eade446a99706 .ctaButton { foundation shading: #7F8C8D!important; shading: #2980B9; fringe: none; outskirt range: 3px; box-shadow: none; text dimension: 14px; text style weight: intense; line-tallness: 26px; moz-outskirt span: 3px; content adjust: focus; content beautification: none; content shadow: none; width: 80px; min-stature: 80px; foundation: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/modules/intelly-related-posts/resources/pictures/basic arrow.png)no-rehash; position: outright; right: 0; top: 0; } .u5eef95f2ce330270c49eade446a99706:hover .ctaButton { foundation shading: #34495E!important; } .u5eef95f2c e330270c49eade446a99706 .focused content { show: table; stature: 80px; cushioning left: 18px; top: 0; } .u5eef95f2ce330270c49eade446a99706-content { show: table-cell; edge: 0; cushioning: 0; cushioning right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-adjust: center; width: 100%; } .u5eef95f2ce330270c49eade446a99706:after { content: ; show: square; clear: both; } READ: The Art Of Torture EssayNothing can occupy a typhoon yet, nonetheless, meteorologists issue admonitions so individuals in the way of a tempest can empty the zone or plan themselves however much as could reasonably be expected. The models that have been presented has showed that exposure to these violent media content does affect adolescents in a sense that they have increased measures of aggressiveness. SEC can be considered as one of very few companies that manage to go beyond mere imitation of global competitors, leverage resources, accelerate the pace of organizational learning and manage to attain seemingly impossible goals ( Hamel and Prahalad, 1989). Vision and Mission Statement Blackberry vision statement, ââ¬Å"Blackberry aims to be the premier center for management development excelling in developing managers of tomorrow; strengthening management capabilities and facilitating policy options to meet emerging challengesâ⬠. (Blackberry, 2013, p.1.) In realizing the above vision and mission, RIM focuses on the following strategic areas: In 1994, Blackberry (RIM) was created. The organization is located in Waterloo, Ontario Canada. Other locations include Europe, United States, Mexico, and Asia Pacific. The downfall of Blackberry began on January 9, 2007, with the introduction of the iPhone. Apple sold a million iPhones the first week of its release, signaling the era of the smartphone. In a conference call on March 29, 2012 CEO Thorsten Heins stated, ââ¬Å"It is now very clear to me that substantial change is what RIM needs,â⬠(All Thing D, 2012, p. 1.). The CEO is creating something Blackberry has not had for a long time, a vision. . ââ¬Å"We believe that BlackBerry cannot succeed if we try to be everybodyââ¬â¢s darling and all things to all peopleâ⬠, (All Things D, 2012, p. 1.). It might be too late butà the organization will undertake a complete review analysis of the way the company operates. Leadership style, management, organizational structure, and culture Samsung Electronics is a worldwide organization with nearly 160,000 employees and operates in countries worldwide. Samsung is devoted to having a healthy organizational culture. The relationships between the workers and leaders are interactive and workers grievances relating to their working environment and other labor related issues work well. Workers at Samsung will respect all workers despite the roles they play. CEO Kwon Oh Hyun is a commanding leader, almost militarist in leading. In South Korea, this style of leadership is very effective; unlike in the United States a commanding leader for a non-military organization would be ineffective. Kwon Oh Hyun is direct, takes tight control, very demanding, disciplined, and demands immediate compliance within the company, from top to bottom. It is difficult to recognize what leadership style is within Blackberry. What has brought Blackberry to its demise is not having a clear vision from its upper executives. Their leaders had no sense of direction to innovate the organization. Blackberry ten years ago was a leader in the cellular business. Customers who owned a blackberry phone felt important, celebrities, Wall Street investment bankers. Today Blackberry is at jeopardy on becoming obsolete. Blackberry made some critical mistakes, which put the organization in jeopardy. The organizationà disregarded the iPhone until it was too late. Prior CEO Lazaridis ââ¬Å"told his employees that no one would buy the iPhone because customers did not want a personal computer on their cell phones.â⬠(Forbes, 2011, p. 2.) Blackberry promoted a culture of unwillingness and closed communication. Upper executives did not want to listen to ideas from below. Additionally, a critical mistake was waiting too long to innovate new products into their product line. Their current product line is a big dinosaur and still look much like their first phones. To further trouble Blackberry, two major outages occurred on April 2007 and again in February 2008, each outage lasted for a few days. Leading Organizational Change Team D would use the Kotterââ¬â¢s Eight Steps Detailed guidance for managing change. First major change is to establish a sense of urgency, in order to create a compelling reason for change. The compelling reason for change is to seek new ways of innovation. Keeping up with the global rapid change in the telecommunications, industry is vital. [Change process theories describe a typical pattern of events that occur from the beginning of a change to the end, and in some cases they describe how earlier changes affect subsequent changes. The theories may identify distinct phases in the process, stages in the reaction of individuals, or effects of repeated changes on people.] (Gary Yukl, 2013, p. 1.) In order to keep Blackberry competitive with the market, the organization must find new products to introduce into the market. Introducing a new lineup of products such as new cell phone models is vital for the company to compete with its competitors. The sense of urgency is creating and updating our products in time to keep up with the competition. The team would create a coalition between upper management to establish the new change for blackberry. The coalition between top executives would facilitate the introduction of the new strategy into our new business plan. A major priority for blackberry and its top executives is to create a clear vision for the upcoming change of the organization. The next hurdle is to widely open up communication barriers and simplify the communication between upper management on down. Blackberry will promote a culture of open communication and willingness for all its employees. The open communication will enable the organization to communicate the vision throughout the company. Good communication will help the organization with employees who resist change. Communication between upper management and employees will help give a clear vision of the change. Inadequate communication will give employees a sense of false information for example believe that change is not feasible, fear of personal failure, loss of status, and economic threat. The CEO will empower other managers to act on the vision by encouraging risk-taking and removing barriers to help solve problems. The new plan will take two years to implement. The action plan will include short-term goals that move blackberry toward the new vision. The change will allow upper management on down to consolidate improvement. All management reassess all changes to include analytical information, the consolidation improvements will allow the organization to make any necessary adjustments in the new programs. All management will have to lead by example and demonstrate the success of the cultural change. The new plan will reinforce the changes by demonstrating the relationship between the new behaviors. The leadership styles will be between transformational and visionary leadership. These leadership styles will inspire the conviction of the new vision and will give blackberry a clear direction to succeed in the new change. Transformational leadership will inspire and develop empowering focus on the new plan. Conclusion During significant change to a companyââ¬â¢s structure and strategies, personnel can experience high levels of stress on the job. Prior to executing the strategies, organizations must empower employees to adopt the role of change and encourage them to take action to solve the problems that stresses them. A large piece of the puzzle is communication between upper management on down. Personnel need to feel that they are empowered during the phase of the change. Although few organizations fully acknowledge their role in helping employees, cope with change. Individual reactions to change your complex and most experts agree that people tend to be uncomfortable with change; employees do not want to depart from their comfort zone.

Sonnet 23 Essays (526 words) - Sonnet 23, Sonnet, Sonnet 65
Sonnet 23 This sonnet demonstrates Shakespeare's great ability of playing with words. According to him a person is tongue-tied when he has either too much or too little to say. He illustrates his idea by giving an example of an unperfect actor who forgets his lines on stage and more curiously, some fierce thing whose heart is weakened by the weight of his own strength. This use of paradox adds intensity to the sonnet and lays the foundation for the following quatrain. The first quatrain is like the silence before a storm; the way it is presented suggests that there is more to come. The actor and the beast are summoned to serve only as analogues to Shakespeare's double-edged analytical presentation in quatrain 2 of love's agonized lack of words: So I, for fear of trust, forget to say The perfect ceremony of love's rite, And in mine own love's strength seem to decay, O'ercharged with burden of mine own love's might. The persona here compares him to the characters beckoned in Q1. In a passage such as this, the distance between the composing author and the fictive speaker almost vanishes, as it is very easy to imagine that Shakespeare, a master of expression, would tell himself that a perfect ceremony of love could be invented. Another aspect worthy of note is the way the phrase mine own love's has been used repeatedly; in line 7 the persona speaks of the decay of his love and in the very next line he speaks of its strength. This double stranglehold is an extremely interesting case, and is beautifully expressed here. The first and second quatrains can be coupled together as they basically portray the same idea. The sonnet therefore can be divided into two parts instead of four. An octet followed by a sestet. While the octet speaks of the persona's tongue-tiedness, the sestet is a plea to his beloved to understand the depth of his love. 'O, let my books be then the eloquence / And dumb presagers of my speaking breast?' the persona here wishes that his writing be the silent and truthful foreteller of all the love in his heart. Q3, in hinting at the beloved's preference for a rival poet, tongue that more hath more expressed, ascribes the tongue-tiedness of the speaker to his new perception of the debased judgment exercised by the beloved. At first, for fear of trust (line 5) might seem to mean, fearing my own powers, but when the unnamed rival enters the scene (line 12), we see the tongue-tiedness rather as a fear of trusting the potentially faithless beloved. Furthermore, the verbal parallelism of the octet is replaced by an irregular line-motion as the persona's agitation achieves full force. The sestet ends with the frustrating speechlessness of the lover finding a way of talking, by deviating into the third person in the final line: To hear with eyes belongs to loves fine wit. It is a proverb coined by the persona and it somewhat negates his inadequacy. It has a sense of pride and provides a perfect end to the poem. Shakespeare Essays

How Humans Contribute to Global Warming Essays
How Humans Contribute to Global Warming Essays How Humans Contribute to Global Warming Paper How Humans Contribute to Global Warming Paper Lately, the earth has been showing many signs of climate change. It is not cooling down at all causing the presence of global warming. Global warming can be defined as an increase in the earths atmospheric and oceanic temperatures widely predicted to occur due to an increase in the greenhouse effect resulting especially from pollution (Merriam-Webster, 2012). This paper will explain why human activity is a substantial cause of global warming and discuss what can be done by the human race to stop global warming. According to National Geographic, Levels of greenhouse gases (Gigs) have gone up and down over the Earths history, but they have men fairly constant for the past few thousand years (National Geographic, 2012). Over the past few years there has been some record high and low temperatures. Through the burning of fossil fuels and other GOGH emissions, humans are enhancing the greenhouse effect and warming Earth (National Geographic, 2012). Radiation from the sun is trapped instead of being released back into the atmosphere when greenhouse gases are present. This causes the temperatures to rise while creating negative effect for our environment (Turk Bunsen, 201 1, Section 7. 1 Greenhouse effect can e defined as the global warming of our atmosphere caused by the presence of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases, which trap the suns radiation (Turk Bunsen, 2011, Section 7. 1). Nitrous oxide, methane, and carbon dioxide are all greenhouse gases. Nitrous oxide can be produced naturally and by human activity. Primary human-related sources of NON are agricultural soil management, animal manure management, sewage treatment, mobile and stationary combustion of fossil fuel, dipodic acid production, and nitric acid production (EPA. Gob). Methane is produced by cetera in the stomachs of ruminants such as sheep, cattle, and goats and is farted and belched out by the animals (Global Action Network, 2005). Methane can be minimized by changing the diets in farm animals. Feeding them grass only is a good way to do this. According to Eagerest, man-made CA emissions account for about 77% of man-made greenhouse gas emissions and roughly 3% of the earths greenhouse effect (Eagerest, 2011). There are many factories and power plants that burn oil, coal, and natural gases when making their products. These gases are released into the atmosphere, polluting the air we breathe, contributing to global warming. There are many disadvantages when it comes to global warming. Imagine if all the ice peaks melted. The sea levels would be overflows causing floods to occur which may force people to relocate. Global warming contributes to our weather patterns causing tornados, hurricanes, or strong thunder storms. During many of these storms, heavy rainfall is present causing floods in our communities. Most of the time when floods are present, a boil water advisory is put into place. This is done to reduce illnesses caused by water contamination. Global warming contributes to forest fires. The warm air dries UT the forest making it easier for fires to start. These forest fires eventually destroy many of our natural resources. Forest destruction is also caused by humans. Humans use the space to build businesses, homes, and highways. As a result, the homes of many species are invaded. My subdivision Was all woods at one point or another. Quite often, I see deer, rabbits, and wild turkeys in my backyard. The high temperatures from global warming destroy farmers crops. These temperatures affect the crops growth and may even burn them. As a result, there are food shortages which could possibly dead to starvation in humans. In addition many scientists argue that global warming is causing extreme weather events that often lead to crop failures (Rosenthal, 201 1). The warmer temperatures cause lakes to dry reducing our water supply as well as the quality of our water. Global warming contributes to air pollution. Polluted air can cause humans to suffer from respiratory problems, such as asthma or allergies, lung disease, and eye irritation, The World Health Organization estimates that the warming and precipitation trends due to anthropogenic climate change of the past 30 years already lain over 1 50,000 lives annually (Path, Campbell, Holloway ; Foley, 2005). Climate changes threaten the health of humans in many ways. High temperatures can cause humans to have heat strokes. It also increases chances for diseases such as the West Nile Virus. Mosquitoes carrying this disease is more active in warmer temperatures. In 201 0, the American Lung Association estimated that about 23 million Americans suffered from asthma (Knowles, 201 1). Human activity is not the only factor contributing to global warming. There IS a natural process that contributes to global warming as well. Plants, both on land and in the oceans, continually absorb and release large amounts of carbon dioxide (Eagerest, 2011). Plants absorb carbon dioxide when they grow and release carbon dioxide as they decay (Eagerest, 2011). Forest fires, volcanoes, droughts and Other natural phenomena can affect the natural rate of carbon dioxide uptake and release (Eagerest. 2011 There are many advantages when it comes to global warming. However, they will never outweigh the disadvantages. There will be less need for energy consumptions to warm cold places when it comes to global warming. Without the greenhouse effect, scientists estimate that the average enrapture on Earth would be colder by approximately 30 degrees Celsius (54 degrees Fahrenheit), far too cold to sustain our current ecosystem (Spencer, 2012). This means that there will be fewer chances for humans to become infected with bacteria causing diseases. The human race can take actions to stop global warming. In order to do this, humans must decrease the amount of fossil fuels and start using energy more wisely. Humans can begin by doing their part to reduce waste by reusing reusable products such as cloth diapers instead of the disposable ones, recycling paper, plastic, glass, and aluminum cans. Humans can use less energy daily to help control global warming by reducing the amount of energy to cool or heat your home. Humans can also use less energy by replacing regular light bulbs with fluorescent light bulbs and using more energy efficient products. Turning off lights and electronics when they are not in use will help reduce energy. Washing clothes Or dishes with cold Water instead of hot water will help reduce energy. Carpooling or taking public transportation can help eliminate polluting the air with greenhouse gases. While greenhouse gases are necessary to warm Earth, human activity expedites this warming and is a absentia cause of global warming. Carbon dioxide and other global warming pollutants are collecting in the atmosphere like a thickening blanket, trapping the suns heat and causing the planet to warm up (Knowles, 2011). Global warming causes many changes in our atmosphere. It is not good for our environment at all. It contributes to the health and well-being of humans, animals life, and natural resources destroyed. The floods, rise in sea levels, hotter than normal summers, and early winters that we have had lately are implications of global warming. Although local temperatures fluctuate durably, over the past 50 years the average global temperature has increased at the fastest rate in recorded history (Spencer, 2012). Scientists say that unless we curb the emissions that cause climate change, average U. S. Temperatures could be 3 to 9 degrees higher by the end of the century (Spencer, 2012). As humans, we must take advantage of recycling paper, glass, plastic, and cans. Using these recycled products will help to eliminate many greenhouse gases that contribute to global warming. Humans must do a better job at preserving our natural resources.

High Underage Married and Divorce rates Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words
High Underage Married and Divorce rates - Essay Example The increase in the number of underage marriages has translated into a similar increase in the rates of divorce in the U.S. The divorce rate in the U.S. is very high and it is directly linked to the high rate of underage marriage. Underage marriage and divorce rates According to the National healthy Marriage Resource Center, most young teenagers and people in their young youth are getting into marriage with the aim of creating a future with their spouses. None of them plans to be involved in a divorce. While there is no way of predicting the future, past statistics have revealed that the majority of the underage marriage unions end in divorce after the first several years. Most teenagers are entering into marriage as an experimental game. They lack the knowledge of the true meaning of marriage; hence they are unable to stick with their partners when reality finally hits them. Underage marriages in the US are very peculiar since the teenagers who get married mostly live apart from eac h other. This is mainly because they are not financially stable and they have to continue relying on their parents (Lehrer 466). Statistics from surveys reveals that the teenagers in the age bracket of 15-17 years have increasingly been entering into their first marriage. The teenagers are entering into marriage with the consent of their parents and they are very excited to tie the knot with their first loves. 1% of all the teenagers in this bracket in America are married. Those in the bracket of 18-19 are even more in the married category. This bracket is made up of teenagers in college and in the universities where the rate of marriage is in an increasing trend. Most of the teenagers in various America universities get married even without the consent of their parents since the law allows it. The number of annual underage marriages is alarming increasing and the laws governing marriageable ages in different states keep lowering the age limit. In majority of the states, 16 years is the legal marriageable age but lower ages can also be permitted by the court to marry with the consent of their parents or guardians (Lehrer 469). The divorce rate in the US has been on an increasing trend for the past several decades. Most researchers have concluded that 50% of all marriages in the US end up in divorce. The high increase in the divorce rates can be linked to the similar increase in underage marriages. The young couples who get married do not last more than two years together in most of the cases. Divorce researchers have found that the average age of those who file for divorce is 20 years. Young adults make up the largest number of divorce cases in the US. Most of them blame it on the early age that they got into married at. The divorce rate in the US for persons under the age of 20 years is 27.6% for the females and 11.7% for the males. This reveals that females are the worst affected by the rising rate of underage marriage (Lehrer 469-470). Figure 1. Pie chart r epresentation of the marriage rate for those under 20 years. Analysis Among the reasons why underage marriages are on a high trend nowadays is the fact that the present teens in the society are very sexually active. Most teenagers engage in their first sexual encounter at the age of 15. More often than not, the children do not have the knowledge on how to use the various forms of contraceptives that are available. This leads to

The Aim of Creating Suspense and An Unsettled Atmosphere Essay Example for Free
The Aim of Creating Suspense and An Unsettled Atmosphere Essay Macbeth is thought to be one of Shakespeares greatest tragedies due to the unique and dramatic plot. Act one, scene 3 is an important scene as it shows the transition between Macbeths two personalities from valiant and noble to ambitious: one of the plays mains themes. The three witches feature in this scene; this is why it is important to create an unsettled atmosphere with the use of stage techniques. Speech techniques are also used, prose is spoken by lesser important characters. Whilst other types of speech are used to show the attributes of the main characters, such as And the very ports they blow, all the quarters that they know. The use of rhyming couplets with the witches suggests an incantation and gives the impression of supernatural or sub-human beings. During this scene the witches prophesize Macbeths future, telling him, Hail thee thane of Cawdor, Hail thee who shalt be King hereafter. This creates suspense and introduces eth audience to the plot and main themes associated with the play. Additional suspense is created by the actors behaviour on stage and the use of lighting and scenery. William Shakespeare wrote Macbeth to flatter King James I between 1603 and 1607. King James I was a profound witch hunter and was considered an expert in witches and the supernatural. In the Jacobean era people were very frightened of witches: they were indeed thought to be not like the thinhabitants oth earth. Macbeth would have been performed at the Globe Theatre, because it is an open theatre it would have to be performed in daylight; this meant language and acting would have to be used to create suspense. Modern theatres would use special effects and lighting creating an unsettled atmosphere. During the reign of James I people were scared of witches and genuinely believed in a sieve Ill thither sail. Modern audiences know witches dont exist, but they are willing to suspend their disbelief. In Act one, scene three the three witches prophesize to Macbeth that he will become Thane of Cawdor and King hereafter. Macbeth and Banquo are amazed at this information, Macbeth is already thinking about murder: whose murder yet is but fantastical. Rosse and Angus tell Macbeth that he is Thane of Cawdor thus proving the first part of the witches prophecy right. This is a dark scene, it maybe early morning suggested by so foul and fair a day I have not seen, to suggest this stage would be backlit in dim blue. The lack of light increases the tension. Little scenery would be used this allows eth actors to move more freely and this means that the movement of the witches could be synchronised showing they are one. The dark light makes the audience focus on the subject, flashing white lights suggests thunder and lightning, sound effects could be used to create a thunder clap, and this is a prophetic fallacy, reflecting the evil of the witches. To suggest the blasted heath wind sound effects will be used. The effects help the audience suspend their disbelief in order to communicate with the play. The witches would be lit with red, because Banquo exclaims, What, can the devil speak true. Red is associated with the devil and could link the witches with the paranormal, thus creating suspense and fright with the association of evil. The witches play a key role in act one, scene three. During this scene they reveal their supernatural links using rhyming couplets and talk of sailing in a sieve: but in a sieve Ill thither sail. To develop the theme of being inhuman, they could chant in a monotonous tone. During the scene, the witches act as one, they are intimate with each other and often speak consecutively. The line The weird sisters hand in hand, suggests that they are close to show this their proxemics and orientation will suggest intimacy. The faces of the witches should be white to reflect the red spot light this shows the link between the witches and the devil. They should wear black cloaks and move about in swooping motions to suggest them being bird-like. Macbeth says Into the air, and what seemed corporal Melted as breathe into the wind; the witches should fly off stage to suggest melting into the air. When the witches speak, there should be no distinct accent, but they should speak softly and flowingly. The witches use rhyming couplets such as Ill drain him dry as hay, Sleep shall neither night nor day, to suggest an incantation, in conjunction with this the soft flowing speech should enable the audience to detach from reality and create a distinct boundary between the human characters and the inhuman witches. The witches act together in my stylised interpretation of the script. When they prophesize about Macbeth they speak consecutively, All hail Macbeth! Hail thee thane of Glamis . All hail Macbeth! Hail thee, Thane of Cawdor. All hail that shalt be King hereafter. This shows how the witches interact with each other, to stage their relationship they should laugh or cackle together, as if eth prophecy is a joke. Macbeth and Banquo had been fighting in a battle, so they would be tired and haggard from this, he also may be injured, for this reason Macbeth should walk on with his arm around Banquo supporting himself to show the injuries and to show immediately they are both close friends. They would also be slow looking up enquiring about the weather, so foul and foul a day i have not seen. As they enter the lights should turn blue as the red lights would create a false image of Macbeth and Banquo. Because they come from a battle in which Macbeth has showed himself to be like valours minion, they would be wearing blood stained armour which reflects both his nobility but also his blood thirst which is revealed in the latter part play. They will be talking very informally, showing they are close friends. To emphasise Macbeths change in personality when he finds out about the prophecy, whose murder is yet fantastical, the lights should turn red again. This creates contrast and adds the suspense. Through this scene there is tension between the witches, Banquo and Macbeth. Banquo and Macbeth dont know who or what the witches are: what are these, For this reason Macbeth and Banquo would be stood together away from the witches, to suggest they are frightened, they should have their hands holding the hilt of their swords. Their bloody language should subtly show the audience they are unnerved by this. Their shoulders should be hunched, their eyes open wide and looking around tentatively. When the witches reveal the prophecy it is a dramatic in the play, Banquos line That he seems rapt withal, suggests that Macbeth is motionless because of this dramatic news. To really articulate and dramatize this moment, flashing strobe lights could be used in conjunction with thunder sound effects. This relates to the scene setting: Thunder. Enter three witches. The thunder is a metaphor for the evil of the witches. To show Macbeths shock at the prophecy, a spotlight should concentrate the light on Macbeths face. This will direct the audiences attention to his facial expression. The actor playing Macbeth should keep still and have his mouth open slightly, this is to create an effect of awe and develop the audiences emotional understanding of Macbeth. From line eighty eight to the end of the scene Macbeth delivers soliloquies intermittently. These soliloquies reveal Macbeths inner thoughts and feelings, he says I thank you gentlemen. He is revealing that he believes the prophecies to be true. The soliloquies focus on Macbeth so the lighting of the other characters should be dimmed to show Macbeth is not talking to them. The soliloquies are important because they show Macbeths ambition swelling up inside and the excitement, The greatest is behind, to show this Macbeth should pace the length of the stage in deep thought. Before Macbeth delivers his soliloquy, Rosse and Angus inform Macbeth that he has become Thane of Cawdor as the witches prophesized. Unlike the witches, Rosse and Angus speak in blank verse, thus showing their importance and that they are close to God. In contrast the witches dont speak in blank verse, this shows there alignment with the Devil. Shakespeares uses a variety of linguistic techniques to show the ambition of Macbeth and the evil of the witches; for example soliloquies, rhyming couplets and prophetic fallacy. The importance of characters can be shown using blank verse and iambic pentameters, but how the play is staged has an impact on how people perceive the characters and understand them. Lighting could be used to suggest personality and scenery, the witches lit in red suggests evil and blue is a neutral color suggesting good. These techniques help the understanding of the play and ultimately suspend disbelief.

George Orwells Shooting an Elephant Essay -- essays papers
George Orwells Shooting an Elephant In George Orwell's essay "Shooting An Elephant," he writes about racial prejudice. Orwell is a British officer in Burma. The author is, "for the Burmese and all against their oppressors, the British"(842). Orwell feels caught in the middle of this cultural struggle. He sympathizes with the oppressed people of India, but is treated poorly, since he is viewed as one of the oppressors. He comes to terms with the role he plays in this vicious cycle of oppression , as an imperial servant, and the influence it has on him to shoot an elephant. The Burmese people are treated as second class citizens in their own country. They are oppressed, by the British empire, that has invaded their land. Being a police officer Orwell sees ...

Embryonic Stem Cells for Research- Right or Wrong
Embryonic Stem Cells for Research- Right or Wrong There have been a lot of controversies regarding the latest stem cell research in recent days. People have been publishing a lot about this issue and it is all over the media lately. It has aggregated some religious groups in the world and they have been very stern towards the issue. Here is my point of view regarding this issue: Unlike other cells in our body, each of which is specialized to perform a particular function, Stem cells are characterized by the ability to renew themselves by the mitosis division and differentiate in to a diverse range of specialized cells types thereby offering medical treatment to wide range of debilitating diseases. This new area of biotechnology seems to be a major breakthrough with the same potential to change the health care as the discovery of antibiotics more than 70 years ago which gave hope to millions. But unfortunately this radical area of biology has fraught with ethical issues and controversie s which had made the process of development slow. There are two sources for obtaining stem cells, one from the layer of cells of embryo in the blast cyst stage, these are called the embryonic stem cells and the other from the adult tissues called the adult stem cells. When the stem cells are retracted from the embryo, the embryo is completely destroyed. This is where the controversies begin. According to the critics, extracting stem cells from the embryo is like killing, it is a murder. In fact some religions in the world strictly prohibit it.But I think its advantages outweigh its disadvantages. It is for the betterment of the humans and very beneficial for the society. As I feel that these stem cells have been used to save human lives and has enormous benefits. This stem cell therapy is used for the treatment of various dreadful diseases like Parkinson disease, diabetes, Alzheimer etc which does not have any cure even in the recent days. This stem cell therapy is considered to be better than organ transplant which gives rise to various infections. Moreover it also give rise to other issues like availability of the donors, tissue rejection etc.Immunosuppressant drugs are given to the patients in to have under gone transplant making them more vulnerable to other infectious diseases. Hence embryonic stem cells have significant medical potential and can lead to numerous social advantages. Other alternatives to embryonic stem cells are adult stem cells which are found in the normal differentiated tissues in the human body and therefore are very hard to extract. Also they are less effective as compared to the embryonic stem cells Embryo is the stage in very first few weeks of the pregnancy. That is the time when even heart of the baby hasnââ¬â¢t been transformed. Many people feel that embryos are not equivalent to human life as they canââ¬â¢t still swim out of the womb, so using them canââ¬â¢t be called killing. So I feel that killing something that is bar ely alive in order to save numerous human lives is justifiable. Therefore according to me, embryonic stem cells should be allowed for research purposes as they possess many advantages and can lead to major breakthroughs in the future. Who knows the word organ- transplant would just be history. by Makkiya Amanullah, Riyadh Saudi Arabia

Teenage Athlete Nutrition Essay - 559 Words
Teenage Athlete Nutrition Today, our world is filled with food. While some are healthy, it seems like teenagers are more focused on the unhealthy foods. Yes, there are athletic programs; teens are still not eating the right foods they should be. They get the simple, easy to depend on, low cost foods which most likely are from fast food restaurants. Teenagers often pick the easy choice, which is why the obesity rate is rising in our state, including heart attacks and diabetes. Even though it seems like the unhealthy choices are more dependent when youââ¬â¢re in a rush and need a quick bite to eat, not caring about the nutrition, teenagers donââ¬â¢t realize that it will affect them in the long run, literally. Teenagers often stress on foods,â⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Also why it may be okay to sneak a snack in once or twice every now and again, keep your eating habits small. An easy way to reduce your cravings could be to go play outside with friends, or even play 3 minutes of a computer game or even other game as that reduces your cravings! A bad nutrition would include only eating meats, fatty foods, and things high in sugar. While you do need meet as a source of protein, as protein is very important, perhaps have it with a side of veggies like corn, peas, green beans, or other healthy nutrition sides(Nisevich). Base on the facts about nutrition, my diet isnââ¬â¢t what we would say, the best. While I donââ¬â¢t eat unhealthy foods often, I should focus on healthy food. For example, during lunch, I normally eat a banana and a soda. To change this into a healthier solution perhaps I could have bananas with peanut butter, with a bottle of water to top it off. I have learned that to improve during athletics you should keep yourself hydrated and drink PLENTY of water, as it will help me in the future when doing sports (Nutritional Needs for Young Athletes). Also perhaps instead of having to be in a rush and stop by a fast food restaurant, I can simpl y make a quick salad or a sandwich for my lunch. If you donââ¬â¢t get a good nutrition, then I can honestly say you wonââ¬â¢t improve on your body or in sports, as it will affect you surely but slowly. Keep a good nutrition, and you can finish the race. Work Cited Chritopher, Jensen.
